The ISUZU Foundation, a partnership between ISUZU Motors South Africa (ISUZU) and its Dealer Network, has handed over an amount of R131 900 to the Ironman4theKidz, an official charity organisation for the IRONMAN, which supports four charities in Durban.
The funds raised from entries of the ISUZU IRONMAN 70.3 Durban held over the weekend will be distributed amongst Bobbi Bear, Likhona iThemba, Durban Children and Youth Centre and Dail News Milk Fund who all help support vulnerable children in Durban and the surrounding areas.
Bobbi Bear is based in Amanzimtoti, South of Durban, and is dedicated to supporting children who have experienced sexual abuse. The organisation’s mission is to ‘rescue, represent and reintegrate sexually abused children, minimise their risk of HIV/AIDS, and to help them towards wholeness’. This is facilitated by care givers who are trained on ways to provide a safe space for these children,
Likhon’iThemba provides a safe home and environment for children awaiting adoption or reunification while the Durban Child and Youth Care centre provides care to orphans, destitute and neglected children.
The Daily News Milk and Welfare Fund is focused on feeding under-privileged children at creches and pre-schools in KwaZulu-Natal by supplying milk, milk powder and high energy porridge to legitimate and vetted organisations.
“As the ISUZU Foundation, we remain committed to making a difference to communities within which we operate. Through our partnership with Ironman4theKidz, we have made strides to support organisations who help vulnerable members of our society and in driving positive change within communities,” says Alastair Hodgson ISUZU’s Department Executive for Business Enablement.
The handover follows the R158 000 raised from the prestigious ISUZU IRONMAN South Africa African Championship and ISUZU IRONMAN 70.3 held in Gqeberha in April 2024. The funds were raised to provide education and nutritional support for disadvantaged children in the Nelson Mandela Bay.
“Through our new partnership with Ironman4theKidz, we reaffirm our dedication to the well-being and development of children and youth in Durban. Our combined efforts aim to provide essential resources and support to help children thrive, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to making a difference in the region”, Hodgson adds.
The ISUZU Foundation has a longstanding tradition of supporting community-focused projects, having granted over R16 million to 80 projects since 2010. The partnership with Ironman4theKidz also reflects ISUZU’s commitment to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on education, poverty alleviation, hunger alleviation, and creating sustainable environments.
