ISUZU Motors South Africa has launched the all-new D-MAX X-RIDER – the latest iteration of the exciting X-RIDER series that has been exceptionally popular with South African customers since it debuted in 2016.
Based on the latest seventh-generation D-MAX range, which is produced at ISUZU’s Struandale plant in Gqeberha, the all-new X-RIDER once again embodies the stand-out character, bold design and distinctive features that have made this unique model revered amongst pickup, or bakkie, owners in South Africa.
The X-RIDER debuted in ISUZU’s D-MAX range as a limited-edition special-value model in 2016, and gained instant popularity. Kevin Fouche, Department Executive: Product Planning and Programme Management at ISUZU Motors South Africa says, “The X-RIDER will attract a lot of attention, but to offer value to our customer the new X-RIDER is based on the mid-range 1.9 Ddi LS models with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions in 4x2 form, and a 4x4 automatic for adventurous customers heading off the beaten track.”
Eye-catching Exterior
The allure of the D-MAX X-RIDER lies in its assertive exterior design. The sleek black gloss grille adorned with bold red 'ISUZU' lettering sets the tone, while X-RIDER badges on the front doors and tailgate emphasize its exclusive status. LED headlamps, fog lamps, and taillamps not only enhance the aesthetics but also ensure optimal visibility day and night.
Further enhancing its dynamic appeal are stylish black accents on door handles, B-pillars, side-mirror covers, and the curved sports bar behind the cab. With 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and a standard towbar boasting a 2.1-ton tow rating, the X-RIDER is ready to tackle any task with confidence.
The Inner Sanctum
Step inside, and the X-RIDER's unique personality shines through. Subtle red accents throughout the cabin, including red stitching on leather seats and door trims, create a sporty yet refined atmosphere. The 'X' logo, prominently featured on the headrests and dashboard, adds a touch of exclusivity, while dark interior surfaces and X-RIDER floor mats complete the premium look.
The Power Within
Under the hood, the D-MAX X-RIDER boasts ISUZU's frugal 1.9-litre Ddi engine, renowned for its fuel efficiency and performance. With a maximum power of 110 kW and peak torque of 350 Nm, this diesel powerhouse delivers impressive performance on any terrain. Paired with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, the X-RIDER ensures a smooth and responsive driving experience.
Model Line-up
Available in three LS trim grade models, all in double-cab configuration, the X-RIDER lineup offers options to suit various preferences. Standard features include cruise control, a seven-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a rear-view camera for added convenience and safety.
